# Justice Fund

The Justice Fund – A Shield for Open Technology Communities

**Mission**: Defend contributors, communities, and ethical projects that face legal threats, exploitation, or public harm due to the misuse of open source technologies.

**What It Supports:**

* Legal aid in license disputes, patent aggression, or harassment
* Investigations into unethical tech deployment (e.g. misuse in surveillance)
* Building legal toolkits and ethical guidance resources
* Strategic litigation for digital justice

**Example Case:**

A solo developer's open-source library was used in law enforcement facial recognition software targeting activist groups—without their knowledge or consent.

Justice Fund supports:

* A legal team to identify IP misuse
* Outreach campaign raising awareness
* Community consultation on license modifications
