Hackathon Privacy Policy

FAIR3 and its affiliated hackathon organizers (“we,” “us,” or “our”) are committed to protecting your privacy and data rights. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you participate in the FAIR3 Hackathon, access our website, submit projects, or interact with us through our community channels.

By participating in the FAIR3 Hackathon, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy.

1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • The FAIR3 Hackathon website and submission platforms

  • Hackathon voting and reward-related services

  • Our social or communication channels (Telegram, Twitter/X, GitHub)

  • Project submission forms and demo documentation

  • Token-based voting systems (e.g., Snapshot)

This policy does not apply to third-party services you may use during the hackathon (e.g., GitHub, YouTube, Notion, IPFS). Please refer to their respective privacy policies.

2. Information We Collect

We strive to collect only the information necessary for participation, judging, and community voting.

a. Information You Provide Directly

We may collect:

  • Team or participant names

  • Email addresses (for contact or rewards)

  • GitHub repos and submission links

  • Project descriptions, demo videos, and documentation

  • Public blockchain wallet addresses (used for verification or reward purposes)

This information is typically collected through a submission form, email communication, or manual upload.

b. Information Automatically Collected

We do not use cookies or trackers on our submission pages. However, third-party tools (like Notion, GitHub, or analytics platforms) may collect technical information such as device type, referrer URL, and IP address, subject to their own policies.

c. On-Chain Data

Community voting may use decentralized platforms (e.g., Snapshot.org), which collect:

  • Wallet addresses

  • Token balances (read from public blockchains)

  • Signed messages or voting data

This information is publicly available and governed by the transparency principles of Web3.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only for purposes related to:

  • Administering the Hackathon (e.g., contact, coordination)

  • Enabling voting, judging, and prize processing

  • Ensuring fairness, transparency, and eligibility

  • Communicating future FAIR3 ecosystem opportunities (opt-in only)

We do not sell or monetize your data in any way.

4. How We Share Your Information

We may share basic project or team information only in the following circumstances:

  • With judges or advisors for evaluation purposes

  • With the community, to showcase your submissions or enable voting

  • With service providers, only as strictly necessary (e.g., email delivery, prize disbursement)

We do not share your personal data with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

5. Your Privacy Choices

We support your rights to access, modify, or delete your personal data.

You may:

  • Request access to or corrections of your data

  • Withdraw from the Hackathon and request data deletion

  • Choose not to receive any future communications from us

Note: Data submitted to public blockchain protocols or stored via IPFS may be immutable and beyond our ability to delete.

6. Security of Information

We take reasonable administrative and technical steps to secure the information we control, including:

  • Enforced access control for submission forms and community tools

  • Secure repositories for storing documentation

  • Minimal information collection by design

However, as with any internet-based system, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

FAIR3 Hackathon is not directed to individuals under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us to request deletion.

8. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Given the global nature of Web3 communities, your information may be processed or stored in multiple jurisdictions. We aim to apply consistent privacy protections regardless of location.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Effective Date.” Continued participation after updates constitutes consent to the revised policy.

10. Contact Us

If you have any questions or requests related to this Privacy Policy or your personal data, please contact us via:

You may also file privacy-related inquiries directly on GitHub or email: contact@fair3.community

📢 At FAIR3, we don’t just promise privacy — we design for it. Let fairness be verifiable, not assumable.
